Located in East Central Florida,
Hoof
& Horn LaManchas
is dedicated to herd
improvement through conscientious breeding and management programs. Our
breeding program is being developed to promote LaManchas that are
structurally correct, worthy of the show ring, and productive on the
milk stand. In addition, we strive to produce dairy goats that are
capable of producing offspring that are solid improvements upon the
genetics of their dam & sire, and reliably maintain body condition and
strength throughout their lifetime.
At Hoof & Horn Farm, we practice a
CAE prevention program, every birth is attended and kids are raised on
CAE negative and pasteurized milk.
The herd is tested yearly for
CAE, and the herd is currently NEGATIVE.
The state of Florida
does not allow the sale of milk off the farm, unless the farm applies
for a "special" permit. Milk can no longer be sold for pet use, either.
This is yet another intrusion into family farming by the government, and
another way to "nickle and dime" small farmers out of business. See what

Every birth is attended at Hoof &
Horn Farm
We provide our
does with a 15% dairy ration created by Lakeland Feed, Timothy /
Alfalfa hay, and free choice browse on a Bermuda grass
pasture. We worm only when needed, to avoid building a resistance
to wormer formulas, and we rotate products. We also use
in our program Triangle 9 + HS and vaccinate at least twice yearly against
Enterotoxemia (CD/T). BoSe is provided on a "as needed" basis.
The Hoof & Horn herd
participates in Linear Appraisal, and scores are recorded on each goat's
individual page.
Show placements are
also recorded on each goat's individual page, and we are VERY pleased
with the achievements of our show string!
