THE LEGALITIES:
Since 1988, Florida's statewide alligator harvest has been
nationally and internationally recognized as a model program for the
sustainable use of a natural resource.
Each year, Alligator Harvest Management Units (delineated areas that
contain sovereign waters and/or publicly-owned properties, and
county-wide units) are established with appropriate harvest quotas
to provide recreational opportunities for Floridians, and
non-residents, to take up to 2 alligators per permit.
Only persons 18 years old and older are eligible to apply for a
harvest permit. Applicants must submit payment for CITES tags and
an Alligator Trapping License, or provide proof of possession of an
Alligator Trapping License valid through the end of the alligator
harvest season.
A
Florida hunting license is not required to participate in the
Statewide Alligator Harvest.

provide ALL permits, forms, and hunting gear for your total
enjoyment and hassle-free gator hunting experience!
Relax, and enjoy your Adventure!
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
Leatherback Guided Gator Hunting Adventures is a unique experience
to share with your children, however, only children ages 15 and up
may attend a hunt.
You
must have NO crocodilian violations in the last 10 years.
Consumption of alcohol prior to the hunt is strongly discouraged for
reasons of safety. There will be no alcoholic beverages allowed on
the boat during hunts.
Mosquito repellent spray and clothing is a good idea. Bring your
favorite snacks and drinks along, a cooler will be provided.
Sensible footwear such as sneakers, work boots, or shoes that you
don't mind getting wet or dirty work great. Flip flops or any open
toe shoes are not recommended. The deck of the boat will get wet,
and can get slippery.
Your clothing should be dark, and have little to no colorful designs
on it, especially the back, because it reflects light. Dark jeans or
pants or camouflaged pants are a good choice. Shorts are fine if you
don't mind bug bites. Bring along a light sweatshirt or
jacket, in case the weather turns cool, and a lightweight rain
poncho is recommended as well. A clean change of clothes for the
ride home will be something you will be glad to have, in case you
get wet or dirty.
A note about cameras and video equipment:
Please keep in mind that you will be on a real gator hunt, on
a boat in the dark, and in brackish water. It is always possible
that your equipment could be lost overboard. We realize that you
will want to record the events, so consider using a disposable
camera with flash during the actual hunt. You can take great trophy
shots after the hunt at the boat ramp!
We
can also provide custom photography after the hunt to record your
trophy gator! Please let us know in advance if you would like us to
provide custom photography.
Firearms
are prohibited by Florida Fish & Wildlife, so please refrain from
bringing your personal firearms. All necessary hunting equipment
will be provided.
You
are welcome to use your own bow (or equipment) IF you are a
proficient hunter. It is recommended that you use the tried and true
equipment provided by your experienced and skilled guide.
Your guide will give you an instructions course and put you on your
trophy gator. His expertise will make your gator hunting adventure a
memorable event! The Leatherback guides come to you with more than
16 years of alligator hunting experience.
If
you want to retain your gator's head or skull, Leatherback can set
up expert, skilled taxidermy for you. When completed your head /
skull can be shipped ANYWHERE for your convenience!
Gator meat and hide will remain with Leatherback Guided Gator
Hunting Adventures.
